Get ahead of disaster season with free visitor safety resources
New visitor safety tips with QR codes will help keep Queensland visitors safe when disasters strike.
Queensland is home to stunning landscapes and one-of-a-kind tourism experiences, making it a popular destination for international and domestic visitors. Due to the state's unique climate and environment, Queensland can experience extreme weather events and natural disasters. To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, it’s essential our visitors are prepared and informed.
The Queensland Government has developed free online resources readily accessible for tourism operators to print, download, and share to help keep their visitors safe during this disaster season. Funded through the Disaster Recovery Assistance Fund (DFRA), these resources include a QR code for posters and postcards that links to essential information online for tourists so they know what to do before, during and after any disaster.
These online resources are readily available and accessible to international visitors through translated resources and assistance for non-English speakers.
Queensland tourism operators are encouraged to print out the resources with the QR code and share with their visitors so that they can access these free online resources.
Here are some visitor safety aspects highlighted in the online resources:
swimming waterways and beach safety
camping, hiking and waterfall safety tips
severe weather safety tips
tips on what to do if official warnings are in place
road safety tips
information on where to find and how to access medical help.
