Australia’s most accessible and inclusive music festival is coming to Queensland

02 Jul 2024

The Queensland music scene is about to get even more accessible thanks to Ability Fest, making its Queensland debut this October!

The Dylan Alcott Foundation will be bringing the party to Meanjin/Brisbane, marking a significant milestone for Queensland as a further commitment to the government’s second year of accessible tourism.

Taking place on Saturday 26 October at Victoria Park/Barrambin, this venue will be fully accessible with elevated viewing platforms, pathways, quiet zones and sensory areas.

Amidst the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis, the Dylan Alcott Foundation is dedicated to maintaining inclusivity in all forms. With this in mind a lower ticket price of $60 has been introduced, with complimentary admission for carers, and a lowered age limit of 16 years and over.

Disability inclusion consultancy, Get Skilled Access, will be playing a crucial role in making the festival even more accessible. Their expertise and commitment to improving accessibility will ensure that the event continues to grow, offering new accessible technologies and incorporating feedback through co-design with the disability community.

Tickets for Ability Fest go on presale on 3 July, 12 pm AEST, with general tickets going on sale 4 July, 12 pm AEST.

100% of ticket proceeds will be donated to the Dylan Alcott Foundation. Since launching, the foundation has raised over $1 million for Australians living with disability, with grants offered in fields such as sports, university scholarships, public speaking courses and start-up funding.
