New thrill ride finds a home on the Gold Coast

12 Jan 2021

Sea World’s new Vortex ride has opened in time for the summer holiday season to boost the Gold Coast’s COVID-19 economic recovery.

Featured as part of the park’s new Atlantis precinct, the new ride is an 18-metre swinging pendulum delivering a 5-G force experience aimed at thrill seekers and the young-at-heart.

Another two rides for the Precinct, including a timber rollercoaster named Leviathan and the 42-metre swinging Trident, are expected to open in mid-2021.

The additional precinct and rides are expected to increase visitation to the park and cement its place as tourist destination as well as drive visitors to the Gold Coast.

Sea World and its parent company Village Roadshow received funding through the Queensland Government’s $25 million Queensland Tourism Icons Program and the Industry Support Program.
