2021 National Reconciliation Week
More than a word. Reconciliation takes action.
The 27 May – 3 June 2021 is National Reconciliation Week, a time to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
2021 marks 20 years of Reconciliation Australia and almost three decades of Australia’s formal reconciliation process. This year’s theme ‘More than a word. Reconciliation takes action’ urges the reconciliation movement towards braver and more impactful action.
Reconciliation is a journey for all Queenslanders – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.
We are committed to supporting Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We want to play an active role by putting in place a mandate for change which brings more opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to participate in driving economic growth and job creation.
Our commitment, embedded practices and support put Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples at the heart of our initiatives which tap into Queensland’s rich natural beauty and the new economy.
